Methodology and editorial standards

How the site researches, dates and checks Canadian facts, labels what is proposed or not in force, builds its tools, and corrects mistakes.

Mitey says: If we can’t source it, we say so. If we got it wrong, we fix it and say when.

Sources

Canadian legal, regulatory and tax statements come only from official pages: CRA, the Department of Finance, the Prime Minister’s Office, Parliament (LEGISinfo), the Justice Laws website, the CSA and provincial regulators, CIRO, the Bank of Canada, the Canada Gazette, CDIC, FINTRAC and the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre. Technical explanations draw on project documentation such as ethereum.org and bitcoin.org. The full list, with dates, is on official sources.

Dates and status

Every Canadian fact carries a date: the date the source page showed, and the date we checked it (most recently 2026-10-31). We label rules as in force, proposed or not in force exactly as the source supports. Where CRA or a regulator has not addressed a question, such as DeFi lending or liquidity pools for tax, we say that plainly rather than guess.

Numbers

We publish no live prices, yields, total-value-locked figures or hack totals. Worked examples use round, labelled hypothetical numbers, and infographic numbers are computed by the same code as the tools.

Tools

Tools run entirely in your browser; inputs are not sent anywhere. Some tools save your entries in your browser’s local storage so you can return to them. Each tool page lists its assumptions and limits.

Independence

We do not accept payment to feature or rank any token, protocol or platform, and we do not name protocols or platforms as examples in guides. The site belongs to the MITEY network, which may contact people who ask for help through our forms.
